The sound of purpose

From the beginning of creation, mankind has always had a thing for pursuing the no-go. It amazes me how so many examples of consequences of bad behavior and disobedience throughout history doesn't ring any bells for so many. God was so clear from day one about what He intended for humanity and He called it good, yet we keep pursuing destruction.

Genesis 1: 27, 28 says, "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

God told mankind to rule over all animals, birds and fish and subdue the land, not each other. He then raised kings and other type of rulers to help groups of people get order, organization and structure. Still, from the beginning of civilization, from Mesopotamia and Egypt until today, slavery has always been a thing. Some people think it is ok to take a person and use him or she as a tool for personal gain. It was never meant to be. It seems like all the testimonies of survivors of slavery, the holocaust, dictatorships, imprisonment, and other type of dictatorship behavior within a democratic country employed only on certain ethnic groups weren't good enough so we can start respecting each other. Using personal power to diminish another human being or take advantage of a person it is not ok. It wasn't ok throughout history and it is still not ok now. One of the main quotes from this movie is, "God's children are not for sale." We are ALL God's children at any age and circumstance. We were never for sale. All the contrary! Someone payed the ultimate price so we can be free.

God always intended to have a personal relationship with us. He created us and knew how much we need His guidance. Even the wisest king in history (Salomon) knew how important it was to depend on God in order to be a good ruler. Proverbs 11:2 says, "when pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. 1 Timothy 6:10 says, "for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." These consumers this movie is referring to are lost in pride and love of money and power. How mentally and emotionally ill does a person need to be in order to abuse a child in any way and rob their innocence forever? The worst thing here is that many of these consumers are political leaders as well as other very influential people around the world, left and right, that are "guiding" us towards their agendas. Morals are completely lost. They've been getting lost for quite a while. Nothing happens overnight. Life without God's guidance is like the see. The second we loose our focus we can get in deep waters without even noticing how we got there.

Not believing in God doesn't mean that I get to do whatever I please with no consequence. Nothing will stop God's plan whether we have faith in God or not. Not having faith may stop us from being blessed or experiencing a miracle in our lives but it won't stop what God intended for His people. Whoever thought that happiness is found in the freedom to do and be whoever we want without God's guidance is completely mistaken. We were not created to live free from a relationship with our creator. So if you ever felt an emptiness or hole inside that you can't describe, let me tell you my friend, it's that separation with the one who breathed life into you. The one who gives us purpose.

Abuse between human beings never stopped ever since the creation. Information about it it's just hidden. Still, those who are free are free indeed to do something about it. The meaning of the word "purpose" is: "the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists." We were created to be light towards one another as we keep developing a personal relationship with our creator. The "how" part of this equation is totally up to us. God gave us a creative mind to dream and plan. The resources will come because God is faithful. My favorite quote of this movie was, "when God tells you what to do you cannot hesitate." That's the voice inside you hear when you are called to change something that isn't working into something that will bless many. That cry of your heart when you see injustice and you're touched by a story. All that is the sound of purpose. It takes a village to raise a kid and it takes another to save them.
